“It’s Mama….”
Write It Down
Recently, I was reading in the journal I keep for you and one-page dated July 17, 2017 caught my eye.
Dear Daughter,
My prayer for you is that you find peace in God – that you search for him daily.
I love (young man’s name) – but I don’t think you realize what his being an atheist means….
He does NOT believe in God
You DO believe in God
There is no greater difference a couple can have in their relationship than that – and it is a serious, if not fatal one.
My prayer is you live with and for God
ILY,
Mama
By this time in your life, I realized that while you were still “Mama’s girl”….you were fully God’s woman and that taking you and this man to God in prayer was the utmost way I could support you. You continued to date that man for several years, all the while struggling internally. While he was so many things your heart longed for, the core of who he is did not match the core of who you said you want to be.
And I confess, I prayed frequently that God would make very clear to you the right and wrong of this relationship. I never really knew how it would work out, but what I did know is that praying to God for you was what God called me to do.
I encouraged you to live on your own, spend time with yourself, lean into the loneliness that comes from single hood. I did that in faith that God would meet you there…on those evenings when it is just you watching tv or cleaning out a closet, or listening to music and playing with your cats, I prayed God would make himself real and felt and present to you.
I love the quote in “A Walk to Remember” when Jamie and Landon are at the water’s edge and Jamie is sharing to Landon what her love is like…
“Love is like the wind, you can feel it, but you cannot see it, and yet, you know it is there”
That is the kind of love I pray for you….
I pray that you wait for God to meet you in the heart of the one He has prepared for you. That you see the depth of your worth…more precious that silver and gold and be patient.
Wait
Pause
Spend time with God
See Him in the little and big things….talk with him often,
See him in the beautiful Kentucky sunrises
Hear Him in the chirping of birds and the laughter of babies
Touch Him when you hug a friend
Taste His love as you sip a vanilla latte’
Smell Him in the fresh Fall rain……
Because the more you come to know God, the more you will recognize Him in the person He has intended for you…
Pour out your heart to Him….all of it
The good, the bad, the unknown and let God work it out for you…as only He can and will do…
And write it down…so, when you look back one year, five years, ten years from now, you can clearly see the journey you are on and the work HE has done…
Write it Down….
Not for God,
For you….
ILYAOYMC,
Mama
